FORCE Technology introduces new wind tunnel
By Esben Rosenberg Sørensen, Marketing Coordinator, FORCE Technology, 11/07/2008

By introducing a removable truncation, FORCE Technology is able to increase the versatility of their wind tunnel facility and thereby ensure a fast turnaround on all their wind tunnel projects including buildings, bridges, ships and offshore platforms.

The design of the wind tunnel truncation has been evaluated and optimized by FORCE Technology’s in-house viscous flow CFD experts ensuring the best possible flow quality in the upgraded wind tunnel.

The width of the wind tunnel can be truncated from 13.6 m to 7.5 m to give significantly higher wind speeds resulting in increased capacity of the wind tunnel.

Wind Tunnel 4 ready autumn 2008
The wind tunnel truncation was installed in June 2008 and the first trials were performed in early July 2008. The preliminary trials show promising results with wind speeds of more than 12 m/s.

The wind tunnel will be fully operational in the autumn of 2008 under the name of Wind Tunnel 4 (WT4).
