The County of Aarhus Makes Use of the “Sniffing Method”
By Jens Roedsted, Sales and Marketing Manager, FORCE Technology, 27/03/2006

In order to get a secure basis for the selection of measures to reduce the intrusion of perchloroethylene from soil pollution to indoor air, the county has decided to make use of the “sniffing method”, which FORCE Technology has developed and tested for the Danish Ministry of the Environment on three residential properties.

The method allows you to map the intrusion of perchloroethylene (PCE) from e.g. a concrete floor. The method is suitable for the control of preventive measures and as a useful tool to be used when the magnitude of the intrusion should be quantified.

The County of Aarhus believes that the ”sniffing method” is highly suitable for the mapping of the intrusion of solvents such as perchloroethylene into buildings, and with the experience obtained from the inspection of the three residential properties, the county expects to initiate further inspections in 2006.
