Quality control of welded pipes at depths of up to three kilometres is fast on its way to becoming a successful Danish export.
FORCE Technology participated in the Offshore Europe 2005 Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference held in Aberdeen last month as one of 25 Danish exhibitors. FORCE expects the exhibition to lead to several international contracts in the foreseeable future.
The FORCE underwater P-Scan equipment, handled by a Remote Operated Vessel (ROV), can inspect welded seams to ensure against cracks or corrosion in the pipes - and thus forestall oil-leakage or similar problems. FORCE Technology is working on a new improved model that works at depths of up to 3000 metres.
"It is time to make our entrance on the international market. Our underwater P-Scan inspection equipment was first used six years ago, inspecting one of Statoil's rigs in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The equipment can be controlled either from shipboard or from the rig itself", says Ole N. Mortensen, Project Manager, FORCE Technology.
He continues: "We expect a lot to come of the exhibition in Aberdeen. We have already had several promising contacts. We participated to expand our customer-segment beyond those we already have in the North Sea. We appreciate our Scandinavian customers, but would like to get in touch with potential customers in other countries. That is why we chose to participate. The Oil and Gas Exhibition in Aberdeen is the perfect forum for meeting people from the global Oil industry."
