The fact that the quality of monitoring and control data is highly influenced by the uncertainty introduced during the sampling process has been the object of increased attention lately. This applies to both environmenal data and data from industrial processes.
The consequences of basing decisions on samples lacking sufficient quality may be fatal both in environmental as well as health terms.
During the last 10 years there has been an increased focus on analytical uncertainty and the time is now ripe to look closer at the element of uncertainty related to sampling.
An international guide for estimation of sampling uncertainty is now ready from Eurochem, and sampling quality assurance is currently being introduced in European legislation.
A workshop addressing these aspects of sampling has been organised by DHI, Denmark, in cooperation with Eurofins A/S, Denmark, Mattilsynet, Norway, and SP, Sweden.
Workshop programme
Date: 12-13 April 2007
Place: Pharmakon Conference Centre, situated in Hillerød north of Copenhagen, Denmark, see www.pharmakon.com.
